This French modernist set of 2 sconces made in the 1950's is the result of George Jouve collaboration with Asselbur including a Mategot Lampshade. 

Jouve worked on several sea creature theme including a Mermaid so this sea horse ceramic piece is a natural fit for his artistry. The texture and finish is totally in line with his creation . The Mategot touch is not surprising since they created a series of standing ashtray and light together. The combination of classical French design and modernist style will create a warm contrast in any mid century or classical  interior. 

The rigitulle from Mategot was copyrighted and protected so it is not some reproduction or copy .
